The name

Lumen, with a capital L. It's made by Meru Apps.

In one line

Lumen is a Mac video player for the films you keep: every format, HDR and surround sound, and a library that sorts itself.

In a paragraph

Lumen plays the videos on your Mac and on the servers and drives you use, in every common format, with HDR and surround sound, without converting anything. It turns folders into a library with posters, seasons and the place you stopped, and works with network shares, Jellyfin, Emby and Plex. It has no account and no tracking: your library stays on your Mac.
